How to Prevent Athlete’s Foot, a Fungal Skin Infection

What is the best Athlete’s Foot protection?

Athlete’s Foot (tinea pedis) is the most common form of fungal infection. It can cause skin to dry out, itch, crack, blister and peel. Fungus forms on areas of the skin that are warm, moist and irritated that’s why your feet can be an ideal place for the fungal infection to occur.

Tinea pedis is easy to contract and can be spread through direct or indirect contact. It’s often spread in damp areas such as public showers or pool areas. It can also be contracted through sharing footwear with someone who has or has had the infection. Athlete’s Foot protection practices can be easily learnt and put in place.

So how can you protect yourself ?

Due its contagious nature, one of the best defences against tinea pedis is simply not to share. This means not sharing shoes, socks, towels etc. Also, if you are using public pools or showers, make sure you wear a pair of sandals or thongs (Athlete’s Foot protection).

Tinea on feet and between toes

Tinea pedis most commonly occurs between the toes, as this is a place that is subject to humidity and moisture on a regular basis. Remembering to dry in-between your toes after a shower is one of the simplest methods of prevention.

Fight fungal skin infection with good hygiene

Athlete’s Foot protection comes with good hygiene habits. Taking care of your shoes and choosing your shoe type wisely is another step in the right direction. If you have had any form of fungal infection on your feet in the past and still have the same shoes, it’s a good idea to wash them to prevent a re-infection. Even if you haven’t, your shoes still absorb a great deal of sweat everyday.

Using Athlete’s Foot treatment

To fight infection, use SolvEasy Tinea Cream or SolvEasy Tinea Spray once daily for 7 days for 7 days for tinea pedis between the toes, or for 2 to 4 weeks if the infection is on the sole of the foot.
